400ml Nitrocellulose paint/lacquer

We stock a wide range of high quality nitrocellulose lacquers and paints suitable for use on any guitar project.
We’ve produced a range of colours found on popular guitar models and used our own Strat and Tele bodies for reference.

This is the same type of lacquer as used on vintage Fender and Gibson guitars which, over time, will produce an aged, tarnished look to your instrument. These are true lacquers, as used by top guitar makers since the 1950s. They dry very quickly and produce a hard glassy finish, unlike other “pre-cat” lacquers

Specification

Solid colour lacquer with a glossy finish
400ml aerosol with elliptical nozzle
Each can is enough for 4 or 5 coats of a Telecaster sized body (depending on coat thickness)
Aerosol produces a consistent fine spray

Fender Candy Apple Red - How it's done

Fender introduced Candy Apple Red as a custom colour for their Stratocaster and Telecaster range of guitars in 1963. The color quickly became one of Fender's most popular colors after Sunburst and Black. This unique colour is achieved by first spraying a base coat of metallic silver (Inca Silver), followed by a few coats of translucent red. The result is truly one of the most stunning finishes found on any electric guitar.

These paints and lacquers are very easy to apply and generally require no sanding in-between coats.

Tip: We recommend adding 4-5 coats of clear gloss over the top of all colours for protection and a deeper glossy shine.

Use only in a well ventilated area. Suitable breathing apparatus should be worn

*Colour may vary slightly depending on number of coats applied, wood type and preparation method.

Awesome stuff

This stuff works. It’s not the easiest way to paint anything Much simpler to use a single coat colour but I knew what I wanted. The pressure in the can stays stable even as the paint runs out. The colours once done and flattened after each coat look simply stunning. It took some time to get it right and even but that was me. My guitar has gone from a black awful looking thing to something to be really proud of just looking at.

Strat repair and respray.

Had a strat in the workshop last week to repair the trem block route that had been widened to take a locking unit. After making and glueing in a piece of wood I masked off the area and used white primer to seal the wood/joint. Left it to dry for 24 hours then used the Candy Apple Red kit - silver then red. It worked very well with a good match to the original finish on the body. Thankyou.JB.

I ordered the kit by mistake. The candy apple red was great but I am puzzled about the silver part. What's it for and how do you use them together. ?? T.I.A.
