Product details
This 7.32kΩ resistor is commonly used in guitar wiring to create a partial coil-split (partial tap) on humbucker pickups.
In a traditional coil split, one coil of the humbucker is completely grounded, leaving only a single coil active. While this produces a brighter tone, it often causes a noticeable drop in output and body.
Using a resistor instead of a direct ground allows a small portion of the second coil to remain in the circuit, producing a tone that sits between a full humbucker and a single coil. The result is a clearer sound with better output and fullness than a standard coil split.
A value around 7kΩ is widely used by guitar techs and builders as it provides a good balance between brightness and humbucker warmth.
Ideal for custom wiring mods and pickup experimentation.
Typical Uses
- Partial coil-split wiring for humbuckers
- Improving thin-sounding coil-split tones
- Balancing output in HSS or HSH pickup configurations
- Advanced switching circuits with push-pull pots or mini toggles
- Experimenting with pickup voicing and split tones
