Wilkinson Short Tele Compatible Bridge with Compensated Brass Saddles

You might choose the Wilkinson Short Tele Compatible Bridge for a variety of reasons. You might not want the sound of a Tele bridge plate interefering with your pickups, or you might have a humbucker in the bridge position. Whatever it is, this super useful bit of kit with fit a huge range of different guitars, offering brilliant compatability for a variety of situations.

Compensated Brass Saddles

Brass saddles are amongst the best materials out there when it comes to bridge saddles design. This is because they impart a warm tonality that isn't too bright, whilst being hard enough to not suffer from wear over time and deliver excellent intonation properties.

Stamped Steel

The base plate is made from stamped steel, just like the original Telecaster bridges were. This gives you fantastic durability and reliable performance from the off, delivering sustain and tone enhancements for your instrument.

Dual Loading Bridge Design

This bridge is dual loading, so you can have your strings as top loading or string thru. There are various reasons you might choose either, so having both as an option is a pretty good deal!

String Thru

When using a string thru bridge, you'll have increased tension versus that of a top loading bridge, which some players prefer as it gives you a more stable playing platform, particularly when you're plucking with your fingers. It really comes down to personal preference which you prefer, as both will sound equally great, just different.

Top Loading

When top loading, the strings are top mounted to the back of the bridge, which means a slightly lesser string tension than that of a through body. This will make the guitar sound more resonant and lively, which some players prefer over string-thru style bridges.

Wilkinson Half Tele Compatible Bridge

If you find you don't have enough room for the traditional Tele bridge, then this Wilkinson Half Tele Compatible Bridge will do the job just as well. It still has the classic three saddle layout, ensuring you get a great Tele twang from it.

Wilkinson Telecaster Compatible Short Bridge -Compensated Brass Saddles

A well made part of good quality. I like the dual string load option, I would prefer individual sting saddles, but I've used the Wilkinson combined compensated saddles before with good effect. The unit itself I will give 5 stars, but it has given me some issues to consider and resolve. This was bought for a Tele deluxe style 'Parts-Caster' build project, and with any such project there is always the issue of parts compatibility. I've got a Northwest Guitars tele deluxe body and while this bridge will fit it, it does not quite line up with the pre-drilled 'string-though' holes on the body. Which one is wrong? I can't answer, but the 6 holes on the bridge plate are drilled to slightly different spacing (narrower) than those on the body. (its 0.5 -1mm) The middle holes align OK but the bridge partially obscures the outer body holes. It is OK for me as I always intended to 'top-load' the strings, but may cause those preferring 'thru-body' loading a problem. There is a similar mismatch between this bridge with the Musiclily 'tele-deluxe closed HB pickguard' I've selected. Which is wrong? Again I can't answer. I can adjust/modify the pickguard to make a good fit so all will be OK. The length of this bridge takes it to the edge of the HB pickup rout on this Tele body. Perhaps, the point I'm making is that this is a good quality part, (they all are good quality parts) but whether it fits on your guitar/project is dependant on how all selected the parts fit together. I've used Wilkinson parts before, they have always given good service and performance, and I expect this bridge will too, once I've sorted the fitting issues. Hope this helps folks. Cheers

Wilkinson bridge.

Not installed yet but looks sound. I have purchased adjustable brass saddles which unfortunately only seem to come with the long full tele ash tray bridge. They seem rather hard to find and it would be great if Northwest could also sell these.
