Hosco Japan Wide Range Humbucker Pickups

Bought a pair of these for my Squier Classic Vibe 70s Telecaster Thinline. They are a very good upgrade. I understand that the magnets are Alnico iii rather than the original Cunife, as found in the 70s Fenders, but that doesn't seem to matter too much. They really do sound very good indeed and seem like excellent value for money. I first tried with 500k pots and this was good in its own right but I changed to 1 meg pots and this made them a little bit brighter and more like a Telecaster somehow. This is very subjective though. These are excellent pickups.

Hosco WRHB: an improve on stock Fender

I fitted this firstly to a MIM Thinline Deluxe Tele. Unfortunately it didn’t fit the routing on this guitar as pickup mounting bracket is too deep. However pickup fitted ok on my Squier VM Thinline. I fitted this in bridge position. The pup is hot at 11.1 Kohms. The sound is smooth with good clarity. I think it lacks the sparkle of a true CUNIFE WRHB but is an improvement on the stock Fender. The mid position with both pups engaged is very nice woody but bright tone.
